Worr Motorsport is preparing for the Killarney Race Weekend like the French are preparing to defend Europe – Nuclear. As the team prepares for testing this week the driver line-up has just gotten stronger. “We are thinking championship with our drivers to get their South African colours” is the aim of the team. An assertion of dominance from the home teams will not be possible for the upcoming Killarney weekend with the Worr and Angri Worr in sync.
Worr is Angri
Karting has a multitude of teams competing for glory and the dominance of each is most visible at their home track. Worr and Angri Worr make VKC and Killarney the official home tracks. Worr Motorsport continues to attract talented drivers through its team, partnerships and expertise. We continue to grow by delivering results, development and continuous improvements. As Worr prepares for this weekend, our drivers and team aim to show that Worr is still on top of its game against the home teams of Cape Town.
Mutiny won’t end the Worr
With the disasters of the previous Killarney weekend the team has regrouped in time to welcome a team of drivers including Jose, Lwashu, Gianna, Jesse and Kiyaan. All these drivers are extremely competitive and are within touching distance of becoming (if not already) championship contenders. These drivers are all familiar with Killarney and face an uphill battle with the changing conditions of Cape Town. Some will be taking on former teammates as the team takes on former team mechanics.
Competition this weekend will be high. In January, significant internal changes occurred within the Worr chief mechanics. Two former mechanics branched out to establish their own team, bringing on board former Worr drivers based in Cape Town. They will definitely want to prove themselves in their home race within the OKN category. OKJ will have the usual suspects. Toyota Gazoo, Xtreme and the newly formed Kokora will bring the heat with a strong driver line-up so Worr will be reinforced by an African Open champ and another explosive import.
Worr will be welcoming Aaryan Singh from the UAE and Andriambelo from Madagascar to compete in the OKJ and OKN categories this weekend. Coach Wes is keeping information close to his chest about the 2 drivers but fortunately Aaryan’s achievements are readily available. With the advancements of Wian and Mo, the rumours around the Worr back office for the last week has been that coach Wes may have found the last pieces of the puzzle to Rok and Rotax domination in Andriambelo and Aaryan. Little is known about the race strategy for the coming weekend as coach kept his cards close to his chest only saying, “We are developing the team, and all our drivers will do well next week”. This led to the imagination running wild in the press office. A Jesse, Gianna and Andriambelo podium lockout for OKN?
With Lwashu still on a hot hand, Jose always progressing and Kiyaan ready to Rok, it will be difficult to focus on only one driver, one combination or expect one dominant display. We will have to wait for this weekend to see if the local Killarney specialists could handle the nuclear combinations coach Wes has put together for each category.
