In recent months the Worr Driver Academy has grown exponentially. The team has included training sessions at Zwartkops to compliment the Killarney and VKC operations. With this, the team has had to expand the staff contingent. Enter Anele Nzimande. Anele is an experienced kart driver from Pietermaritzburg that will be joining the team as the New Academy Coach.

Anele started his journey into karting in 2011. Born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, he started with rental karts on family holidays until a friend introduced him to professional karting at iDube Raceway. Unable to start back then, he waited until he finished school and could finally scratch that itch. “From the start, I knew it was something I wanted to take seriously. I’ve always dreamed of one day moving into main circuit racing, and I realised that being part of a professional environment would be key to developing as a driver.” Says Anele about his journey to becoming a driver.

Coach Wes monitored Anele’s progress through social media and got a chance to see his awareness of the track firsthand at the most recent iDube Club Race. Though Anele finished off the podium, coach Wes admired his race craft and continued development. “Anele is a special driver and is going to be great for our academy. As an active driver he can practice what he preaches and that gives our young drivers more than just words when they race in the academy class for Rok.” Said Coach Wes.

As a contributor to the development team, Anele says “That’s something I’m really excited about because it will help improve my own understanding of race craft and allow me to be more deeply involved in the sport I love. On top of that, I’ll now be able to race with the support and expertise of the biggest karting team on the continent, which is a huge opportunity for my development.” Anele will be taking charge of his first group of Academy drivers after completing sessions with members of the race team staff. We look forward to seeing him at the Racetrack very soon.
