Macau- Worr motorsport has taken another significant step in its mission to transform African motorsport, attending the latest FIA conference in Macau to present and advance the Karting Africa Intiative alongside key international stakeholders.
Representing Worr Motorsport, Wesleigh Orr joined delegates from the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), FIA Karting (CIK),and African National Sporting Authorities to discuss the future of grassroots motorsport development across the continent. The conference provided an opportunity to present the final master plan for the Karting Africa Initiative- an ambitious framewokr designed to create sustainable pathways for young African drivers, officials, and clubs.
The initiative focuses on strengthning grassroots karting through improved governance, structured driver development, coaching programmes, technical education, and greater collaboration between African federations. By establishing consistent stndards and creating opportunities at entry level, the programme aims to build a stronger foundation for motorsport across Africa while opening clearer pathways to international competition.
Speaking form Macau, Wesleigh Orr said the momentum begind the initiative continues to grow.
“The support we’ve received from the FIA, FIA Karting and federations across African has been incredibly encouraging. This is no longer just an idea- it is a practivalroadmap that can deliver meaningful change for African motorsport. Our goal is to ensure that every young driver, regardless of where they come from, has access to opportunities, quality coaching, and a clear pathway to compete at the highest level.”
The conference also allowed Worr Motorsport to strengthen relationships with international governing bodies and national federations committed to growing participation in karting throughout Africa. Discussions centred on implementing the master plan over the coming years, with a focus on infrastructure development, talent identification, official training, and creating sustainable racing programmes in multiple African countries.
For Worr Motorsport, the Karting Africa Intiative represents more than driver development. It is about creating an ecosystem that supports clubs, race organisers,coaches, mechanics and officials while ensuring African Motorsport can compete on the global stage.
