Benguela, Angola: The Beginning of something much bigger

Africa is getting ready for something BIG. On the 10-11 October, the eyes of the motorsport world will turn towards Benguela- Angola, as Karting Africa takes another major step forward in building a united and powerful grassroots motorsport movement across the continent. What is about to happen in Benguela is far more than another karting event. It is the beginning of a new chapter-  a movement where drivers, countries, teams, officials and motorsport representitives from across Africa come together with one shared vision: to create opportunities, develop talent and show the world what African motorsport can truly become.

One Grid. One Passion. One Africa

The grid is growing, the countries are coming together, and the demand is already proving that Africa is ready. With 40n drivers from across the continent coming together for this special occasion, Benguela will become a meeting point for some of Africa’s emerging karting talent. From African countries the message is becoming impossible to ignore- Africa wants to race, Africa wants to develop, and Africa wants to build its own motorsport future.

This is not simply about putting 40 drivers on a starting grid. It is about creating connections that can last far beyond one weekend. It is about bringing different countries together, sharing knowledge, creating development pathways and giving young African drivers access to opportunities that can help  them progress through the motorsport ladder.

It’s about time the world started watching Africa

For far too long, the incredible motorsport potential fo Africa has remained largely unseen by the wider international racing community. That is changing. What you are about to witness in Benguela is a statement that African motorsport is ready to stand on its own stage.

The first Karting Africa Show Run represents a special moment in this journey. It brings together a select group of drivers and representatives from across the continent to lay the foundation for something much bigger. Before the wheels have even turned, the interest and demand have already demonstrated the appetite for a truly continental karting platform.

Drivers want to be part of it. Countries want to be part of it. Motorsport communities want to be part of it. And that is because they can see what is coming.

2026 is the beginning. 2027 changes the game.

The Benguela Show Run is not being positioned as the destination- it is the starting point. 2026 is the beginning of  the journey, while 2027 is where the doors open to a new era of African grassroots karting.

The vision for the Karting Series is to take grassroots motorsport to an entirely different level by connecting countries across the continent and creating a structured platform where young drivers can develop, compete and be discovered.

Rather than waiting for African talent to leave the continent to find opportunities, the ambition is to build stronger opportunities within Africa itself. This means developing local talent, strengthening national motorsport communities and creating a continental pathway capable of connecting drivers with coaches, teams, officials, technical personnel and opportunities.

A continent coming together

From the southern tip of Africa to the west, east and islands of the continent, the movement is growing. Different languages, cultures and motorsport backgrounds may separate countries, but the passion for racing brings everyone together.

This is what makes the vision so powerful. It is not about one country dominating African karting. It is about creating a platform where the entire continent can participate, contribute and grow together. The goal is to create a motorsport ecosystem that belongs to Africa and gives African the opportunity to compete on an African stage while attracting the attention of the international motorsport community.

The world’s biggest grassroots motorsport movement is being built in Africa

The Foundation are being laid now. The connections are being created. The drivers are preparing . The countries are coming together. And Benguela will be one of the moments that helps turn vision into something the world can see. This is about much more than racing laps. It is about opportunity. It is about development. It is about building careers and strengthening the motorsport industry across the continent. It is about proving that African talent deserves a global platform.

Benguela becomes more than a location on the racing calendar. It becomes part of African motorsport history. It is the race to develop Africa’s next generation of motorsport talent. The race to create opportunities. And the race to make sure that when the world looks towards motorsport, Africa is impossible to ignore.
