Redstar ROk Nationals

One of the most testing events on the calendar, the opener gave coaches and staff the best opportunity to see where a Driver is regarding skills. The race, notorious for surprise performances continued the trend with exhilarating performances by rookies and Worr drivers made a good impression from Friday testing.

Exciting start to karting

Ethan and Tiro were entering their first race ever and the excitement was real. Both put in an impressive first performance. The drivers showed guts and determination as they battled the field in tough, ever-changing conditions. Ethan achieved a stunning 3rd place finish for the weekend and coach Wes looks forward to a P1, P2 finish from these future champions.

Consistent Improvement

Mini Rok, under 10 continued to be a closely fought affair. Lwashu kept cool as he battled in the midfield after an encouraging qualifier. He had improved his performance around the familiar Redstar circuit only to be outdone by the more experienced drivers on the day. He kept the battle raging as the heats went on staying within touching distance of the podium. Although, the eventual outcome was outside of the podium places he is just getting stronger and stronger as the season progresses.

Solid Rok

Mini Rok’s Kiyaan had super pace for the whole weekend, unfortunately the tricky conditions got the better of him along with Jose – all the way from Cape Town – and Slammet. Jose was moving it up on the bunch as put a very impressive drive down for the weekend. Slammet had a testing weekend where he effectively saved his kart in changing conditions. We as a team will continue to work hard to improve both drivers going forward. A solid effort by both drivers.

OKJ Ashaan and Kayo shine

Ashaan, making his introduction race in OKJ, did a superb job keeping the wheels on track and finished the weekend with no issues. Coming off a stellar Killarney weekend with a P4 finish, Ashaan showed composure in the tricky conditions to save his kart, gather points and finish in a respectable position lining himself up for a good season ahead. Kayo from Mozambique blasted out the gates to win gold in the OKJ category with a mature performance throughout the weekend. Kayo impressed with a dominant showing for team Worr in his season opener against an experienced field. Coach Wes says “We could see the potential after analysing his test run on Friday but we were sceptical about the conditions on the day. Kayo really impressed us with his maturity this weekend and thoroughly deserved to win.”

The Combo Continued

Gianna put up a massive fight up front in the wet and dry conditions again showing why she belongs at the sharp end of the field. Jesse impressed the staff once more with his improved pace for 2025. He proved once more that he is one to watch this season fighting right in front with teammate Gianna. With a strong finish by both Gianna and Jesse it was a Worr P3 and P4.

Ahead of the potent combo in P1 was the multiple SA championship winner Muhammed Wally. He took his experience and maturity into the weekend and won the OKN category in his usual, dominant fashion. Muhammed set the track alight from testing and adapted faster than all his competitors to lead the weekend and remain comfortably in front of the line. “Yes,so it was really tricky this past weekend, especially adapting to the track that was changing lap by lap. with the track changing continuously meant that a strategy was needed, so in qualifying I only did 5 laps to save our wet tyres as I knew having better wet tyres would give me an advantage if it rained for one of the races.” said Muhammed about the weekend. His strategy proved to be the deciding factor as heat 3 turned into a race in the wet and with fresher wet tires he won a dominant 24 seconds ahead.

Overall, the team was quite happy with the results. The drivers did an amazing job and we believe this season is going to be one for the books.
