The Worr Race Team had a busy weekend with the team active in Cape Town and Gauteng. For this split the team was monitored by Coach Wes at Formula K in Benoni and we saw the return of the GOAT, Hugh Orr to take charge of the Cape Town team. Results were mixed with coach Wes saying “The team is doing well, we will continue to work hard to give our drivers the best we can. The benchmark keeps moving so we as a team have to continue to develop through the season to stay up front.”

Lwashu gave an impressive performance with his pace this weekend. At only 10 years old he is one of the youngest in the class and his race craft continues to develop. He raced with more confidence with his speed on par with the front runners. On the sharp end of the Field was Kiyaan Reddi who put up a P3 performance in heat 2. With an aggressive start he made his way up the field to chase the karts ahead. “His race craft is one of the best in the field.” Notes coach Wes. “I think we still need to develop his power unit package; we still have some time left on the track in that department, but we are working on it for both drivers for the national coming up in 3 weeks.” Wesleigh stated.

Ashaan Reddi came into the weekend with a wrist injury. He still had a solid weekend putting in the laps to gain experience in the new class. Oatlehile came back from a break to compete this weekend. The questionable fitness was hindering him in the later parts of the race, but he went straight into the midfield fight and impressed with some great on track dog fighting. No doubt once his fitness is back up he will be right up front. Zehnya from Namibia started the weekend well. With no experience she was hanging on to the bunch on the Friday testing. Unfortunately, a big crash in wet conditions on the Saturday morning took her out for the day.  But she is motivated to keep improving for the next race.

Using WORR power enigines, Duri Goodman’s second race in Jnr max got him some gold in heat 2. With him only starting his Jnr Max journey, he will only get strong. And Coach Wes reports that “There is no doubt Duri will be a championship contender.”

Roshaan Goodman fought for the lead in all the Snr Max races with his solid pace. The races didn’t go his way with some aggressive attacks in track breaking his concentration and affecting his race craft. A good showing from Roshaan gives the team optimism about his future performances.

Cape Town Results

Some internal changes in the Cape Town team a week before made this race a little tricky. But we sent down the Original GOAT Hugh Orr father of Wesleigh, who took Wesleigh to 4x World Championships, 2x European Championships and 7x South African titles. He took charge to make sure our drivers are prepared for the weekend. Thank you Sir!

Jose Day

Jose took no prisoners and scored gold for heat 2 in Mini Rok. After being 1 second off the last event, the game changes for this event as he now becomes a serious title contender. Under Mini Max, he put in another great result with a top 5 finish. He has developed enough to compete, and the team aims to develop him further, so he becomes the front runner in all categories he competes in.

Jesse Swart came out to the Cape Town Race to represent Worr. The power driver brought home a podium for the team in his second race of the season. This was unsurprising because from January, Jesse had made his intentions clear for this season, it’s time to get those podiums. He did just that this weekend and keeps the team motivated to push for gold.

Ghaniem Slamet came in engine roaring and made big improvement on speed in his first outing for the team this year. He put up a great fight for 5th placed finish on the day. He impressed the coaches with his performance with coach Hugh saying “It’s only a matter of time until he moves towards the front.”
