A landmark championship victory at Zwartkops Circuit secures Radhi Harris a place at the Rotax Finals

What began as a new season with a new chassis has now developed into one of the most significant milestone yet for African karting.  Radhi Harris, one of South Africa’s Micro Max Champion following the conclusion of Round 5 of the Rotax Max Challenge national championship at Zwartkops circuit this past weekend.

The championship victory not only marks a major achievement in the young driver’s career but it is the reward for an outstanding season of consistency, speed, determination and development. The championship has been won during Radhi’s first season competing with the Karting Africa chassis- a racing produt proudly developed and built in Africa with the ambition of creating greater opportunities for the continent’s next generation of drivers.

A championship season to remember

The final round at Zwartkops represented the culmination of months of racing, preparation and hard work. Across the season, Radhi demonstrated the qualities required to fight for a national championship: outright pace, consistency, race craft and the ability to perform under pressure.

With the championship battle reaching its conclusion at Round 5, every lap carried significance. Against a competitive Micro Max category, Radhi continued to demonstrate why he had established himself as one of the standout young drivers in the championship. It was a moment that represented far more than a trophy. It was the culmination of an entire season of commitment from the driver, his family, his team and everyone involved in his racing programme.

Radhi Harris: a star on the rise

The young driver has delivered an exceptional season and continues to establish himself as one of the most exciting prospects in African karting. His performance throughout the championship has shown a level of maturity and competitiveness that belies his age.

Karting is often described as the foundation of professional motorsport, and it is within these early years that future champions develop the skills that can carry them through the international racing ladder.

Radhi’s progress is therefore being watched with interest not only in South Africa, but across the growing African karting community. His success represents what is possible when young African drivers are given the opportunity, support and platform to develop.

A new chapter for African motorsport

The significance of this achievement extends beyond one driver and one championship. Across the continent, young drivers are beginning to gain greater access to karting and motorsport programmes, while organisations and teams are increasingly looking at ways to create sustainable pathways for future talent.

The objective is not sipmly to produce a successful chassis, but to contribute to an ecosystem where African drivers can discover motorsport, develop their skills and ultimately compete internationally. Radhi’s championship provides a powerful example of what that future could look like.

The beginning not the end

Radhi has now added his name to the list of South African national champions. But this championship may ultimately be remembered as the beginning of something much bigger. For Karting Africa, it is proof that an African- developed chassis can compete at championship level. And for African motorsport, it is another signal that the continent’s future is full of possibility.

Radhi will carry with him not only the pride of becoming South African Micro MAX Champion, but also the expectations and support of everyone who has followed his journey.

And alongside him will be the Karting Africa chassis — an African racing product heading onto an international stage. The road ahead will undoubtedly bring new challenges, tougher competition and bigger stages.
